The De Ville line was born in 1960 as an offshoot of the popular Seamaster and in 1967 began to be manufactured independently in Geneva.
From the very beginning, its pure round lines and details reminiscent of the modernist style that had triumphed a few decades earlier were noticeable.
In 1999, Omega developed a coaxial exhaust for this model, the first to do so. Technically, each change in the viscosity of the lubricant reduces the punctuality of the movement. The co-axial movement reduces both the friction of the parts, which is essential for an accurate movement, and the influence of the lubricant. The co-axial escapement has an intermediate wheel, a co-axial wheel and a paddle lever with three jewels.
