The Tank de Cartier is one of the great icons of wristwatchmaking.
The first wristwatch in history was created in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his friend, the aviation pioneer Santos Dumont.
In 1917, clearly inspired by the Santos, Cartier designed the Tank, a design inspired by the armoured tanks of the First World War, from which it takes its name. It was launched in 1919 with six units.
