Manufacture founded in 1850 by A. Braunschweig. In 1894 the name Fils de L. Braunschweig was changed to Fils de L. Braunschweig and the name of the famous Mentor watches was registered.
In 1901 the brand Election was registered in Switzerland by the L. Braunschweig factory in La Chaux de Fonds. The same company registered the name Election in England (1917).
In 1906, its founder and president, Alphonse B., died, passing the presidency to his 20-year-old son.
In 1907 he patented a «double movement» and a counter clock.
In 1916, the company won the GRAND PRIX at the Berne exhibition.
In 1919 he patented various watch parts.
In 1932, the factory changed its name to Nouvelle Fabrique Election S.A. The engineer André Margot was its president until 1965, when he died, when he was also president of the FH (Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry). The logo became the E that appears on the dial of this watch.
The factory operated until 1973 (it disappeared with the crisis of the 1970s). Most of its models were manual winding, gold case and eccentric seconds hand…of great prestige in Argentina (something like Cauny in Spain).
The sixties Election automatics were mostly ETA movements with some modifications, and there are about fifty different calibres, not counting those with incabloc and other variants such as the 805.
